FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The KOVH Foundation Inc Celebrates 1,000 Signatures on Petition to Halt Veteran Foreclosures and Enact Crucial Legislative Reforms

Palmdale, CA, April 20, 2024 – The KOVH Foundation Inc proudly announces a significant milestone in its mission to protect the homes of America’s veterans and their families. Today, we celebrate the gathering of 1,000 signatures on our petition calling for an immediate halt to all veteran foreclosures and comprehensive legislative reforms to prevent future injustices.

For too long, the brave men and women who have served our nation with honor have faced unnecessary financial hardships, risking the very roofs over their heads. The KOVH Foundation Inc recognizes this crisis and is dedicated to enacting real change to ensure veterans and their families have access to the support and resources they deserve.

Our petition highlights the urgent need for the implementation of the Veterans' Home Protection Act, which outlines crucial programs, resources, and support mechanisms to safeguard veterans from housing instability. Through collaborative efforts with legislators, regulatory bodies, and the wider community, we are committed to ensuring that no veteran and their family are left behind.

KOVH Foundation Inc Founder and CEO, Amy Tilley, stated, “Enough is enough. Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our nation, and it is time for us to step up and fight for their rights. By uniting our voices and leveraging the power of advocacy, we can create lasting change that ensures every veteran has a safe and secure home.” The Pandemic further buried veteran families who were already behind in their mortgages, unable to find or qualify for programs or assistance, only for many to put on the covid 19 forbearances that were created in response to the pandemic.  Tilley, added, “Many of these veteran families (like mine) were dealing with banks and lenders who under current regulations and legislation, were unable to qualify for any real help to help them save their homes and keep their families housed.  With rent being far more than our mortgage payment which used to be under a 4% fixed rate (currently at 6.875% and nearly 1k more than we were paying), we found ourselves scouring everywhere for options and help, finding very little.  Now, having fought actively to raise awareness to the giant failures of this nation to protect and support the very men and women who put it all on the line, since January of 2015, we worked hard to get our incomes up enough to qualify for a loan modification which has left us struggling even more as there were no options to move the pandemic paused payments to the end of the mortgage, adding (like now the largest majority of struggling VA mortgage homeowners have found to be the case) with mortgages that have added an additional 400-1000 dollars into their payments.  Its a huge, highly stressful, and financially draining burden to carry that with the cost of everything going up, families like mine {and all of the veteran families we are fighting to get justice for and protect}, are doing everything they can just to  keep their homes and families fed.  It’s disgraceful.”

We hereby call upon every media outlet across the nation to amplify our message and join us in advocating for the urgent reforms needed to protect our veterans and their families. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the sacrifices made by our veterans are honored with the security and stability they deserve.  These brave veterans and their families are owed so much better, and deserve to be fought for and heard.
