A Looming Crisis - A Not So Merry Christmas

The holiday season should be a time of joy, family, and reflection. But for thousands of veteran families across the United States, this Christmas brings anxiety and fear as the VA’s moratorium on foreclosures is set to expire on December 31st. At Keep Our Vets Housed (KOVH), we are sounding the alarm and calling for urgent action to ensure no veteran is left out in the cold.

A Looming Crisis

The foreclosure moratorium provided temporary relief to struggling homeowners, including many veterans who have faced economic hardship in recent years. With the moratorium ending, thousands of veterans risk losing their homes at a time when freezing temperatures and the challenges of the holiday season compound their difficulties.

Veterans often face unique struggles, including service-related disabilities, PTSD, and employment transitions, making it harder to recover from financial setbacks. For many, their homes are not just shelter—they are stability and security hard-earned through service to our country.

The Mission of KOVH

KOVH was founded to fight for veteran families facing foreclosure and homelessness. Inspired by personal experience, our mission is to provide advocacy, resources, and support to keep veterans housed and prevent foreclosure crises.

We work tirelessly to:

  • Raise awareness about the veteran foreclosure crisis.

  • Advocate for legislative and policy changes to provide long-term solutions.

  • Offer resources and guidance to help veterans navigate financial challenges.

This holiday season, we are redoubling our efforts to bring attention to the expiration of the VA’s moratorium and push for extended protections for veteran families.

How You Can Help

The fight to keep veterans housed requires collective action. Here’s how you can make a difference:

  1. Spread Awareness: Share our mission and the urgent need to address the foreclosure crisis on social media and within your community.

  2. Donate: Your contributions help us provide resources, legal assistance, and emergency housing solutions to veterans in need.

  3. Advocate for Policy Change: Contact your representatives and urge them to extend protections and funding for veteran housing programs.

  4. Volunteer: Offer your time and expertise to support KOVH’s outreach and advocacy programs.

A Call to Action

As we gather with loved ones this Christmas, let’s remember those who served and now need our support. The end of the VA’s foreclosure moratorium threatens to push countless veterans into homelessness, but together, we can make a difference.

At KOVH, we believe no veteran should face foreclosure alone. Join us in standing up for those who stood up for us. Visit our website to learn more, donate, and get involved.

Let’s keep our vets housed—because no one who served should be left without a home.
